There are several options...

ROAD BIKE OPTION

Ride Leader: Deb Young

Classification: D-pace (10-12 mph) social ride

Distance: 2.5 to 4.8 miles, or as many miles as you want if you continue to ride an out-and-back on the Virginia Capital Trail before returning to Haxall Point

We will gather at the Canal Walk Murals at Haxall Point. The first 2.5 miles of the ride includes the Canal Walk, Brown’s Island, the T. Tyler Potterfield Memorial Bridge, and the Manchester Bridge (South 9th Street) before returning to Haxall Point. If you want to continue riding, you’ll take the Canal Walk over to Dock Street, and ride through the Floodwall gates to join the Virginia Capital Trail at the Low Line until you reach the Great Shiplock Park trailhead, a total of 3.6 miles. You can either continue on the Virginia Capital Trail to do an out-and-back. Or you can ride 1.2 miles to return to Haxall Point, with total mileage at 4.8.

Important: This is a group ride but is meant for experienced cyclists who are comfortable riding on some city roads. This is NOT a no-drop ride. Be a good Santa’s helper and print out the map and cue sheet here: ridewithgps.com/routes/26480069
